Biokos® Shows Effect Against Another Ciliate Parasite

A new paper on the effect of Sundew's Biokos® on epistylis infections. Biokos is shown to be effective against another ciliate parasite.

Biokos tablets used at normal dosage completely and lastingly cured goldfish (Carassius auratus) infected with Epistylys sp.

As the need for clean aquaculture of fish protein increases, a natural, benign treatment option such as Biokos becomes ever more important.

Epistylis species form colonies on fish skin, fins and gills. The pathogenic bacterium Aeromonas hydrophila exploits the beneficial living space and entry point that the Epistylis colonies provide to infect fish, causing the dreaded “Red sore disease”. Epistylis/A. hydrophila infection is a huge and costly problem not only in the pet trade but also, for example, in farming hashtag#Barramundi and hashtag#NileTilapia.

The paper is a result of a collaboration between Sundew, Universidade de São Paulo, Universidade Anhembi Morumbi, Universidade Santo Amaro and , Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina.
